How to Hypnotize People Quickly
Hypnotic induction is an effective therapeutic treatment. It can be used to help people overcome harmful habits and phobias, help them learn positive coping methods quickly, and it is an effective way of helping them to remember past events that may provide answers to current situations in their lives. Although it is also often used as a form of entertainment, one must always consider the well being of the subject when practicing hypnotic induction.
Use the Dave Elman Method
Ask your subject to close his eyes and relax. This method of hypnosis requires that the subject’s eyes be as relaxed as possible. Your subject’s eyes should be closed throughout the process.
Deepen the relaxation. Tell your subject to let the relaxed feeling in his eyes spread to the rest of his body.
Count from 1 to 5, slowly. Pause between each number to say to your client “You are gradually becoming more and more relaxed.” Say this slowly, in an even tone. When you have finished counting your subject should be in a light trance and receptive to suggestions.
Use the Handshake Interrupt
Build a rapport with your subject. You will need about one to two minutes of conversation with your subject to build a state of trust and suggestibility.
Offer your hand for a handshake. As your subject begins to stretch out his hand, use your other hand to grab the hand quickly and hold it up to his eyes.
Say loudly, “SLEEP!” to send your subject to sleep. Your action will create a moment of confusion in him. At this time, your subject will be receptive to your suggestions.
