How to Regrow Your Hair
Hair loss is a problem that affects both men and women. It could be hereditary, it could be a side effect of medication and medical treatments, or it could be due to one’s lifestyle habits. There are several things one can do to promote growth and prevent further hair loss. As with all things, one must have patience while waiting for results.
Stimulate hair growth with topical solutions. The most popular of these is Minoxidil, which is sold as Rogaine in the U.S. and Regaine in Europe. Users will have to apply this product for at least four months to see results and may have to keep applying it to retain the new growth. It appears to be more effective when used on small areas and it produces better results for men between the ages of 18 and 41 (see Resources below).
Adopt a balanced diet. A healthy diet should contain proteins, vegetables, fruits, grains and some amount of fat. A balanced diet will promote hair growth. Supplement your diet with vitamins.
Take vitamins. The vitamins known to prevent hair loss include: A, B3, B5, B6, C, E, Biotin, Inositol, Calcium, Chromium, Copper, Iodine, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium, Selenium, Silica, Sulfur and Zinc. Most of these vitamins are usually included in multivitamin tablets.
Get enough sleep. Adequate sleep provides the energy that the body needs to perform various functions, including growing the hair. The recommendation is 6 to 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Get some exercise. Exercise improves the circulation of blood in the body, which is necessary for healthy hair follicles.
Drink water. An inadequate intake of water can be a factor in hair loss. The amount of water one needs to drink varies by age, weight, the season of the year and other factors. As a general rule, women need to drink at least 2 liters of water per day while men need at least 2.8 liters.
Stop hair loss. DHT (Dihydrotestosterone), the derivative of testosterone, is responsible for baldness in men. It binds with the receptors in hair follicles and, over time, disrupts the production of healthy hair strands. Avodart and Propecia are two products that have been designed to combat DHT (see Resources below).
Look after your hair and scalp. Wash your hair daily, or every other day, with a mild shampoo that is pH balanced and made for your type of hair. Rinse with cool water and let it dry naturally. Do not brush or comb your hair while wet. Proper maintenance may prevent further loss and promote hair growth.

If you decide to use Rogaine, you must apply it continuosly for at least 4 months to see results.
